Problem with bridge prep22 Oct 2007 04:04 GMT12
Back in January 2007 I had number 31 extracted.  It broke, got an
inlay, inlay broke, got infected, root cracked, got extracted.  On
September 25 2007 (9 months later) I went to my dentist to start the
preparation for a bridge for 30,31,and 32.  Tooth 30 and 32 would be
Dental probes for personal use?21 Oct 2007 13:29 GMT5
I assume that if I am careful and use a high quality dental probe, I
would be able to check for sticky spots on the tops of my teeth that
would indicate caries formation, without much risk of doing any
damage.  Is that true?
What do you know about waterlase technology?20 Oct 2007 15:31 GMT6
In the U.S. a few dentists are marketing a completely different type
of dentistry that goes under the name of waterlase (standing for the
combination of a water stream with a laser beam).
This method supposedly makes the existing teeth drilling combined with

First off I have really bad teeth.  Poor dental habits (or I should
say no dental habits) instilled when I was younger and a heavy meth
habit in my late teen, and stopping dental work midway due to costs or
switching insurance = really bad teeth (I'm now early 30)
Acid Reflux Resistant Filling18 Oct 2007 13:40 GMT4
Is there any type of bonding that doesn't depend on acidity as much?
My gums are receding and I have small cavities there.  Just like the
tiles on the space shuttle, the bonding isn't made for shear
strees. Furthermore my acid reflux (and vomiting about wice a year)

vizilite question18 Oct 2007 04:35 GMT13
Went for the semi-annual cleaning and the dentist handed me a brochure
on vizilite.  From what I've read, the effectiveness of this procedure
is questionable and it does not appear to have the ADA's approval.  At
the time, the dentist mentioned that if the insurance did not cover
Rural vs Suburban17 Oct 2007 00:03 GMT3
As some of you have figured out, I have found a place to help out for a few
weeks while the owner/dentist recuperates.  This office is in the middle of
farm-country.  A totally different sensation for me to smell cow manure for
a few miles prior to hitting "town".  I get to ...

Can a crown be converted to an implant?16 Oct 2007 17:07 GMT8
I'm guessing no, but I had to ask anyway.  The scenario is this: you
spend $1200 for a crown on a RCT-ed tooth, then a year down the road,
the tooth becomes painful and unsalvageable and you decide to get an
implant.  It would be nice if the existing crown could be converted to
