Last month an amalgum filling fell out of one of my molars and I saw a dentist about having it replaced. The dentist indicated that too much of the tooth was missing and he advised me to have a root canal performed. He said this was preferable to having the tooth extracted,

This is my first post here, and I would like to ask about the instrument that is used to probe and explore the teeth upon examination for caries, etc. I fear this exam so much that it is the primary reason I hesitate to visit the dentist. It is very painful
