here's my story: I am 26 and most of the 9 fillings I have I got during elementary school, so they're some 15-20 years old. They're all amalgams. I moved to Atlanta, got a new dental plan and a new dentist. This new dentist gave me a list of 7 fillings that needed replacement.

My wife recently started going to my dentist. In general, she has perfect teeth, but an old filling in a molar was bugging her - slightly. The dentist recommended replacing the filling with an inlay, which he did at a cost of ~$400.

I bought some Aim toothpaste today because it was cheap. After I got home, I noticed that it does not have the AMA logo on it. It does have .24% fluoride. The first ingredient is Sorbitol. Should I be using another toothpaste instead?

I have some long-standing PFM crowns in the upper front which have the "dark lines at the margin" problem due to some minor gum recession. Some of these crowns have to be at least 25 years old. However, they all still seem to be quite serviceable and are giving me no problems.

The side and rear of my last molor are surrounded by gum. Unfortunately, the gum do not stick to the teeth, so food can get in but it's hard for me to clean them. Should I have those gum surgically removed? Is there a name for this condition?
