| HIPAA Compliance and Data Backups | 13 Apr 2006 06:25 GMT | 2 |
I am not a dentist, but I am hoping to get some feedback on whether any of the dentists that lurk in this group use remote backup as their method of backing up their data. In order for you to comply to HIPAA, your data needs to be encrypted

I have just recently had a 6-tooth brige installed on my 6 front teeth; the only top teeth I have left. The previous bridges I had on the teeth were 2 seperate pieces of 3 teeth each; after having some root canal work & cleaning of the teeth underneath, I had been fitted for a

| Full-Mouth X-Rays - How Often? | 13 Apr 2006 00:25 GMT | 8 |
I'd like a considered opinion on how often you should have full-mouth X-rays, especially if one has had numerous root canals in the past. In my case, it was coming up on 5 years and an infection was discovered along side #4, an endo-tooth, treated back in 1989. I have had no ...

| Implant vs. bridge | 11 Apr 2006 00:47 GMT | 10 |
I am about to do an implant on #8 (upper molar). I've read up way back on this newsgroup about pros and cons. What makes my case different is that I am also simultaneously redoing the existing crowns #7 and #9, so a bridge would not be an invasive option. My prosthodontist and oral

| Loose Crown on tooth-dentist wants it to fall out | 10 Apr 2006 19:45 GMT | 8 |
I have a loose crown, it has been loose for 6 months and my dentist will not take it off because he said it will do too much damage to the tooth underneath. He said to wait until it falls out on its own, Is this the normal procedure for this? The tooth is in the front, so

I have a question about x-rays. I had panoramic x-rays taken at my dentist, but now I moved and changed dentists and wanted to have my old dentist forward x-rays to the new dentist, so I wouldn't have to pay for them again and expose my head to

| amalgams? | 10 Apr 2006 02:11 GMT | 5 |
Could someone tell me the average Hg content in amalgams? And at what temp. does Hg go from a liquid to a gas? I'm getting all kinds of mixed messages about this issue; however I believe it may just boil down to the two facts above (and maybe the info. below.)

| dental implants: failed cases | 10 Apr 2006 01:05 GMT | 4 |
I am recommended to get dental implants but they are very expensive and I need to think of cost performance. Most importantly, I wonder how long they last. Is there warranty attached to dental implants? Most of the information I see on the Web and in books talk only about the

| Do de-sensitizing toothpastes really work? | 08 Apr 2006 13:24 GMT | 6 |
Do de-sensitizing toothpastes (Sensodyne, etc.) really work? If so, how? Are chemicals absorbed by the teeth or do they instead enter the gums and into the nerves? How long do they take to be effective (assume the teeth are brushed one per day)? Does sensitivity return when ...
