What is the best way to pick a good dentist?27 Sep 2005 04:07 GMT18
I need to choose a dentist - I don't have much idea how - but im
guessing choose one from a more affluent area, make sure when I get a
look at there office they have up to date equipment and give the
impression they make pretty good money.  Ask the dentist how long they
Why not put denture teeth on the ridge?27 Sep 2005 02:36 GMT35
I'm getting my third set of dentures and am totally upset with myself
for allowing it to go this far. There were several clues that should have
sent me running from the chair at high speed. He suggested that I get
2nd opinion, so here goes.
Pursuing a career as a Dental Hygienist26 Sep 2005 23:57 GMT2
I'm fairly new to this group and to news groups in general.  I
joined about a week ago, as it was a requirement for a college writing
class to join a group that was centered on a career we are interested
in.  I'm currently a senior in high school and I am interested in

NTI cost25 Sep 2005 19:45 GMT266
There has been a previous thread discussing how much the NTI device
retails for to the patient (anything from $200-$800), but how much is
the actual cost (to the dentist)?
10 yr old - Root Canal or Pulpotomy???25 Sep 2005 19:45 GMT21
We have been told that our 10yr old daughter needs a root canal. We made an
appointment with an endodontist to have this done. He gave her one shot to
numb her tooth and then claimed he could not do the procedure and we should
see a pediatric dentist.
Is this PFM uneven and what can be done?25 Sep 2005 18:23 GMT1
This is a PFM where the masking for the tooth has made the
tooth appear too opaque. It appears to be a little bulky. How old is
the crown?

is it possible to avoid slur/lisp with mouthpiece?25 Sep 2005 13:15 GMT2
i'm thinking of getting braces and was told that i would need to wear a
mouthpiece 24/7 for two years or so.. i've noticed a lot of people with
mouthpieces tend to lisp and slur and salivate severely, then again maybe
there are dozens of people i've spoken to who were wearing ...
Considering an implant to replace #10 (long)25 Sep 2005 12:51 GMT5
Almost 15 years ago, I lost my adult #10 tooth to root absorption after
having braces for three years. They tried pretty much everything to
save it, including a root canal, but it eventually gum tissue started
to grow into a hole that had formed in the side of the root, and the
QUESTION25 Sep 2005 12:24 GMT4
Perhaps it's a non-issue but I have a question. I was rather shocked to
see my dentist mark a one-piece crown (covering multiple teeth) with an
ordinary pencil. It was a first fitting after the filing had been
completed. The patient had been wearing the temporary. The dentist

Once again their newservers have screwed up. The last day or two of posts have
gone the way of the Bermuda Triangle.
I apologize if I've dropped out of the middle of a thread or two, they've simply
disappeared. Please repost if it was important.
Dentistry and the Internet24 Sep 2005 06:28 GMT82
There seems to be competition between news groups and dentalboard
websites.
I do not understand this mentality. Shouldn't the focus be on
exchanging information ACROSS newsgroups when possible? ISn;t the
Greed and dentistry.24 Sep 2005 05:52 GMT135
A family member needs some teeth work done, and the cost is simply
prohibitive. I can no longer ignore the cry of pain. By the
way...dental insurance...isnt.  A hospital or doctors office will send
me a bill for the remainder - a dentist wants his in cash. And usually,
