Cracked Teeth Question27 Jun 2005 15:27 GMT22
I just had three mercury fillings removed a month ago and replaced with
white fillings.  Two of those fillings have now developed cracks.  One
is right down the middle.  I am a 36 year old male and have had one
other crack in the past.  Do you think my dentist should be responsible
gum boil27 Jun 2005 10:13 GMT8
Can someone give me advice. I had a root canal done in an upper molar
recently, in which there was an infection in the nerve. A gum boil had formed,
from which I  was squeezing pus, and the gum was very sore and tender around
this spot. After the root canal, the infection was still ...
Gold crown vs Porcelain27 Jun 2005 00:40 GMT7
My regular dentist says I need a crown on a farthest back upper molar. He
gave an estimate of about $500 for what he called porcelain over a noble
metal. A dentist I went to for a second opinion says he feels a gold crown
would be what he'd recommend, estimate of approx. $700.
Plase tell me what you think26 Jun 2005 21:15 GMT4
This is from a recent opinion article presented in the British Dental
Journal, talking in general how many patients is the optimal
performance for a dentist to see. I have isolated the following text:

Hello dentists,
As both a future dental student and a current patient of Invisalign,
I'm curious about something. My dentist let me spend a lot of time
looking at the 3D model of my teeth moving (the "clincheck") and I

Clenching23 Jun 2005 23:19 GMT10
I've read the dentists post periodically regarding "clenchers."
Is there a generally recognized reason why people start to clench
their teeth all the time (i.e. stress, caffiene, etc.)?
I noticed I've begun to do it lately and have ground a filling out of

Help - White areas at the base of my teeth22 Jun 2005 16:12 GMT1
I realize this might be hard or impossible to diagnose without seeing
it, but I live in a very remote area and it's hard for me to get to a
dentist, so any guesses are appreciated.  I brush twice daily and floss
(perhaps not as often as I should), but I've developed white areas at

Insurance Coverage of Root Canals21 Jun 2005 20:55 GMT4
My wife apparently needs one. One of her molars on the bottom suddenly lost
a big portion on the top & there's a hole now. She said it appeared
spontaneous, though I've never heard of that happening.
Anyway, I wasn't with her at her appointment where upon physical inspection

Crest Whitestrips - do they damage your enamel ?21 Jun 2005 15:22 GMT1
In my experience, a bleaching agent tends to weaken whatever it bleaches.
Isn't this true for all these teeth whitening products?
