the Crown Racket (dentistry cash cow)08 Mar 2005 00:17 GMT80
I'm convinced that very often a crown is installed when a filling would

average crown lasts just ten years. Clearly crowns provide a reliable
cash flow to the average dentist.

Well, have any of you instituted this in conjunction with a HD medical plan
in your office?  I'm am trying to get the staff to understand the benefits
of it.  Somebody must have been asleep in Washington to let something that

I have a mouthful of old amalgam fillings, that are in various states

Occlusal Splint07 Mar 2005 16:33 GMT10
I have receding gums (but do not have gum disease)...
For years my dentist has told me that I was brushing
too hard and that I needed gum surgery to fix the problem.
(I never found the courage/money to do it!)

teeth), so I was thinking of whitening it (with Crest paint-on overnight
stuff) before I have a filling put in, so the filling can match ...
Decay 'Spreading' Through Teeth?07 Mar 2005 15:03 GMT2
I've just been to a new Dentist, and he stated that I needed
a filling (no X-Ray taken). Although I wasn't in pain and

a visible small dark patch on the crevice in the tooth
