Food debris in extraction site29 Feb 2004 17:28 GMT17
Five days ago I had my lower left rear molar extracted. This was
somewhat problematic as it was dead so kept breaking up and had to be
drilled apart in situ in order to remove it. It also had three roots
which apparently didn't help matters.
Cold Sores and Valtrex - whats your opinion on Dosage29 Feb 2004 13:41 GMT17
I get cold sores maybe 1-2 a year.
I have some valtrex my doctor prescribed me.
I THINK he said to take it (500 mg) 2 pills, twice a day until it goes away.
What dosages do you recommend to your patients?
Pallet surgery after large scale extraction29 Feb 2004 13:04 GMT5
My girlfriend had the misfortune of having to have 22 teeth extracted
a few years back due to continuing pain and bone problems. At the end,
only 5 teeth were left to help in locating dentures afterward.
She seems to tolerate the dentures well but she did say she requires
Swelling after putting in implants.29 Feb 2004 11:11 GMT5
Just stopped by quickly to ask all you pros about something regarding my
visit to the dentist yesterday.
I had titanium pins for implants put in (4x), with general anasthesia. When
I woke up, I was a bit sore in the gums obviously, since they'd been cut up

unpaid bills & removing braces28 Feb 2004 12:36 GMT26
A friend of my niece's reports that his orthodontist refuses to remove
his braces because his parents can't pay their bill.  I can understand
denying further treatment, but isn't it dangerous to leave untended
appliances in a person's mouth?  Is this sort of neglect illegal,
what can I do for the core build up?28 Feb 2004 00:50 GMT1
I just had a big filling on one side of my #3 molar (there is already
no tooth structure left on that side)  , because my old filling
cracked. The dentist took x-ray and told me I do not need Root Canal.
But he was not concerned about making a crown which was required on my
Nuclear weapons and dental work; the connection28 Feb 2004 00:27 GMT11
Those of you who have known me for a while already know what the
connection is...Chronic Beryllium Disease (CBD).  The beryllium is some
cheap dental alloys is plenty enough (if its dust is inhaled) to cause CBD.
We would know little about this disease if there were not ...
erosoin of unknown cause27 Feb 2004 15:38 GMT4
My son, who is now 20 has had severe erosion on the insides of his teeth,
similar to a bulemic's pattern (but he is certain he is not bulemic). The
erosion continues acc. to our dentist. I brought him to the Phil.school of
Dentistry and no one know what causes this. He is at the end ...
Is a crown necessary?  Is an onlay a possibility?27 Feb 2004 13:59 GMT5
I have a bottom back molar with a substantial filling in it and a
piece of the enamel has broken away.  The dentist says there is too
much tooth missing to do another filling, and has recommended a crown
with a buildup.  I've read a lot on the internet about the possibility
Teeth Sensitivity27 Feb 2004 13:56 GMT19
I am having an OPG scan on Monday because of ongoing teeth
sensitivity. My dentist believes that the pain I feel on brushing is a
sensitivity problem only, but has ordered an OPG scan to rule out
other things. In the meantime, he suggested that I use Gel-Kam after I
Laser caries detection and Air Abrasion question27 Feb 2004 04:10 GMT4
I have a question about the eficacy of air abrasion. Thanks for your
responses.
Here's the background. In my mid-30s I have my first cavity. I went to
a new dentist yesterday after not going to one for a couple of years.
Tooth extraction woes27 Feb 2004 03:13 GMT2
On Friday (20th Feb) I had to have a tooth out (rear bottom left
molar, not a wisdom tooth as these were removed some years ago).
The tooth had to be removed as there was some decay and it couldn't be
refilled due to having been filled many times in the past, ie any
how long should i wait27 Feb 2004 01:37 GMT2
Question 1: If I am experiencing discomfort from a recent filling, how many
days should I wait before going back to the dentist and getting it seen to.
I belive most discomfort should go away after 2 to 3 days - or can it take
longer than this.
