chromate in gum surgery?31 Jan 2004 18:11 GMT2
I recently had gingival grafts done.  The periodontist and his assistant
had a discussion about whether to use chromate or nonchromate for my
grafts.  They ended up using chromate.
Why did they use chromate?
What was that smell - tooth extraction31 Jan 2004 00:44 GMT3
I had a tooth pulled today.  Big molar, left huge hole in my mouth, a few
stitches etc.
The doc did some drilling and I am not sure why.  I asked and the nurse said
that it was just some drilling on the tooth to  aid in the extraction.  with
Decay Below Gum Line31 Jan 2004 00:31 GMT2
I called my primary dentist again this week to say I was still
having pain.  Was told to go back to the endodontist.  Visited
the endodontist yesterday for evaluation of my swollen gums
on the upper left around tooth 14.  Tooth 14 does not have enough
Dental Implants vs Dentures30 Jan 2004 22:10 GMT5
My father has just got himself some dentures. He's struggling to cope with
them and I've suggested that he get himself dental implants.
I've heard many wonderful things about dental implants. They say its just as
good as real teeth if not better! The down side is of course the cost.
Please let me vent30 Jan 2004 20:24 GMT27
About 6 months ago, a patient of mine (white female, 70's, clinical
psychologist) lost #18.  #19 was also missing.  I recommended 2 oral
surgeons to evaluate for implants.  I was actually not very hopeful as
there was very little ridge height.

Shooting pain after molar filling30 Jan 2004 18:17 GMT3
Last week I had a molar filled, replacing a filling from when I was a kid.
Since, if I drink anything cold or even lukewarm I get a shooting pain in
that spot. Before the procedure I had no trouble in that area.
Is this normal and temporary or is something wrong?

question for the pros30 Jan 2004 15:13 GMT9
I'm 47 y/o.  My dentist told me that #14 was broken, and that decay was showing
on x-ray. Said I needed a crown, and possibly root canal, depending on what he
finds.. That was 7 months ago -- I had not been able to gather up the necessary
funds, and asked his office if he would just ...

Folks,
Am new to this forum, so please refrain from flaming me if I seemed to

how to get a root canal without too much cost?30 Jan 2004 05:25 GMT1
I got a free checkup and cleaning from a friend who is a dentist. But
on that day after an X-ray he determined that I needed a root canal
done. Unfortunately, I had to fly out and it could not be done within
the available time frame.
Whitener after extractions30 Jan 2004 03:02 GMT10
Two weeks ago I had four (mostly upper front) teeth pulled. In seven
weeks I'm scheduled to go back to get a cast made for an upper partial.
The gums in the location of the extractions no longer feel tender to the
touch or when eating (I don't have a temporary denture).
Root Canal & Crown Necessary29 Jan 2004 19:39 GMT5
My wife and I recently moved to a new state, and I acquired a new
dentist in the process. He informed me that I needed a lot of dental
work done, including replacement of two fillings that he said were
'loose' and a root canal. The root canal was expensive, but not nearly

Root Canal & Sensitivity - Change of dentist?28 Jan 2004 23:45 GMT10
I hadn't been to the dentist in 5 years due to changing cities & being
too lazy. My girlfriend eventually coaxed me into going for a check up
to her local dentist.
From my initial check up, the dentist recommended I get 4 fillings -
