Many people complain of "Lipitor Belly" - an odd distribution of fat when
taking statins.  When I noticed this study on Pub Med, I intended to post
just on that topic, but then read Zee's recent post on the link between
Leptin and memory.

Question for Hawki22 Jul 2005 00:06 GMT10
We had an interesting exchange of posts a couple of weeks ago. I seem to
recall that some other people even got involved. I learned a lot.
I saw some information on page 25 of "NewsWeek" magazine (date July
25,2005) that reminded me of the one of your posts.

Company may have sold faulty pacemakers20 Jul 2005 08:20 GMT3
I just read a pretty freaky article I thought I'd share with you.
Apparently, Guidant Corp., announced this week that 9 of their
pacemaker models sold between 1997-2000 may be faulty and need
replacement.  However, that's not such an easy task.  There are 28,000
Stress test results19 Jul 2005 22:01 GMT17
I just finished my stress test. I was on the treadmill for 15 minutes
and passed with flying colors, and no signs of any problems. To boot my
cholesterol went from 385 to 106. My HDL's also dropped a bit but my
cardiologist was impressed with the overall lowering of my trigycerides
Arteries as a function of present diet.19 Jul 2005 09:37 GMT54
If ones arteries are in a certain shape due to years of a certain diet
mode, i.e., so much fat, etc.  What is the response to that condition if one
does a big change in diet, i e, minimal fat, etc.  Do the arteries respond
fairly quickly?  Or does it take some time for changes ...
That omer thing - any source that says it's a unit of weight...?19 Jul 2005 03:49 GMT2
I've looked and looked for any source that says it's a unit of weight
besides Chung. I can't find any. Not one. Nada. Zip. Zero.
In the interests of keeping Chung from looking like a fool because only
he "discerns" the truth about this omer, I'd really appreciate it if

The restaurant... what's the name?18 Jul 2005 23:06 GMT3
Someone ask Andrew to post the name of the restaurant that serves
lobster, shrimp, steak and deserts all for $3.99/lb for lunch and
$4.99/lb for dinner. I think he's miffed with me. Again.
I'm going to get a huge group of friends to go there so we can make the
Report from Visit to Neurologist18 Jul 2005 19:51 GMT30
I had posted earlier about muscle pain and weakness in my
back and legs which seemed related to taking a statin (Zocor).
My internist referred me to a neurologist.
After taking the history and examining me, he said he wanted
