Polio, radiation and chemo30 Jun 2005 20:56 GMT3
Has anyone heard of complications from chemo or radiation for cancer
victims who had polio when they were children? My wife nearly died from
polio when she was a child but survived and learned to walk using
forearm crutches. But now at 57 endometrial cancer (stage IIIc) was

ChemoAngels30 Jun 2005 11:27 GMT1
A friend of mine sent me this website.  It looks quite interesting.  Has
anyone ever heard of it before.  It looks like something I would like to
sign my mom up for.

Anyone with cochlear hydrops get chemo?29 Jun 2005 23:53 GMT1
Now that it finally hits me that this stuff is ototoxic, I'm wondering
just how much hearing loss I can expect. An audiologist friend suggests
that most of it will be high-frequency hearing loss due to ciliary death,
but she claims to be no expert.
Update on my mom29 Jun 2005 23:11 GMT1
Mom had her surgery yesterday.  They had to remove more of her lung than
initially planned.  Actually removed about half of her right lung.  I saw
her this morning and she was alert and comfortable.  Her pain is being very
well managed with the aid of an epidural catheter, which ...
status - and plea for organ donors29 Jun 2005 22:03 GMT8
Getting chemo tomorrow, but i feel like i am fading fast now.
Irony of ironies is that cancer victims can't donate organs, since by the
time we die are organs are generally fully involved, even if not detectable
in a particular one.  I had signed my organ donor instructions years ...
Long mystical weekend (long)29 Jun 2005 17:22 GMT15
This is about our experience with the Shaman so if this isn't for you, stop
reading.
I won't get too involved but let me say that when Curt and I arrived at
T.M's house Friday evening we were very nervous. we met Steven (the Shaman)
I'm on my way tomorrow29 Jun 2005 15:13 GMT4
I have to say I'm not looking forward to it.
But I understand that Dad is belligereant as can be, fighting everyone. For
97, he is very strong.
I hope that in his all-too brief periods of lucidness, that he somehow know
results of today's onc visit29 Jun 2005 10:02 GMT6
onc recommended halting chemo as ineffective.  His best guess is that I'll
be gone by September.

Be careful about reading health books.  You may die of a misprint.

This is so difficult --- my Dad28 Jun 2005 22:06 GMT5
I'll be leaving on Wednesday for Calif. to see my Dad. He is doing poorly.
Miriam (his wife of 16 years) has finally come around and broached a topic
we were both thinking about:
We will be making funeral arrangements when I get there.
radiation results/side effects update28 Jun 2005 18:22 GMT8
good news - I can tell the sore throat is definitely getting better.  I can
drink with only the mildest discomfort. Next I'll try eating.
Meanwhile, I am back to two handed typing.  Figgertoes says my grip is
definitely stronger, although still not normal.  The typing is a ...
Hey J...  a note from my dad.28 Jun 2005 13:02 GMT1
Does this give any information that can help me understand what type of lung
cancer she has???

Laurie,
my personal study28 Jun 2005 12:45 GMT29
You can read all kinds of studies by so called experts, but my own
personal study says of the aproximately 8 people who took chemo, maybe
twice that I barely knew, only one I know of who survived more than 5
years, and she didn't look sick to begin with. OTOH i've known only one
Am I the only one who can't get a straight answer?28 Jun 2005 11:45 GMT2
Is this happening to anyone else?
Talked to the radiation oncologist the other day about my breathing
difficulty when in the Horror Mask From Hell. He said that would be an
ENT specialty and sent me forth to see one.
