I've had CML (Chronic Mylogenous Leukemia) in 1984, had a bone marrow transplant in Seattle and cured by 1989. But that experience made me realize how wrong doctors can be sometimes.

I wanted to thank all of you who responded to my post about my mom's illness. After I dried off my eyes I was able to type this and say thanks for your thoughts and ideas. I feel I finally found a place where others understand what it like to live with this kind of reality.

I read recently of one onc doc who has hired what he calls a "Chemo Patient Advocate" who works with the people receiving treatment. The woman is a cancer survivor herself and her job is to get to know the patients and just listen and be sensitive to them, encouraging them.
