Tongue Cancer Survivor (Glossectomy)?29 Dec 2003 08:59 GMT4
I was recently diagnosed with a large Squamous tumor on the base of my
tongue.  After CT scan and examination, the surgeon tells me that a
total glossectomy and possible laryngectomy is in order.   The surgeon
and a speech pathologist was very up front with me as to what to ...
magnets and longevity...possible relief from pain29 Dec 2003 08:56 GMT1
I was surfing on the net a week ago and I suddenly saw a pop up from a
site called Alex Chiu. Alex Chiu is the inventor of a magnetic curing
ring. The rings, with two magnets in it, are weared at night, because
laying down gives the best flew of blood. I read the testimonials and

What follows a positive Hemoccult test?28 Dec 2003 18:36 GMT2
A recent home Hemoccult test was positive (for 1 of 3 smears). My
doctor said I should have a barium enema next. I had a colonoscopy 2
years ago that found nothing.
Is the barium enema a standard follow-up to a positive Hemoccult?

Hurt hip today --- need advice26 Dec 2003 16:34 GMT4
OK -- I know this is OT. But, I bet others here might have an idea:
I'm a 57 yr. old male. I was shoveling snow. Bottom line:  I slipped badly
on the ice about 8 hours ago. I went up and then landed hard on my left hip.
I'm in a lot of pain.

Connection between remission and attitude25 Dec 2003 23:27 GMT12
I keep reading where people say that one's disposition (joy,
assurance, hope etc) has a great deal to do with remission

is this anecdotal or are there some studies that have shown this to be

My mother, who is in her mid 70s but hitherto lively and busy to the
point of distraction, has just had surgery for cancer of the jaw.  I
haven't seen her - I live 200 miles away and have a young family -
so I don't know what to expect when I do.  She's still in hospital
