Medical Merry-Go-Round II:  Re-Excision Lumpectomy30 Jun 2008 16:18 GMT14
Had the rest of my bigger tumor cut out yesterday, at least I hope
two's the charm.  The surgery was much easier this time.  I'd feel
pretty good if we weren't stuck in the northern California smoke
disaster.  Visibility is about 100 feet, and we can smell smoke with
and the journey ends...27 Jun 2008 10:54 GMT19
...Deborah passed away yesterday and since some of you asked about her
frequently I thought I'd stop by and share.
She and I separated more than a year ago and that's when I left this
group, since I was no longer supporting a cancer survivor.  Since I am
Medical Merry-Go-Round: Bad Margin, Peek-A-Boo Tumor20 Jun 2008 20:25 GMT15
Got my lumpectomy Monday, doctor called yesterday with pathology.
Good news: nice clear sentinel node biopsy.  Bad news:  In her quest
for cosmetic perfection, she missed the spike coming out of my 1.7 cm
tumor.  This was very visible to little old me on the ultrasound that
making a decision19 Jun 2008 01:21 GMT15
I had come to the conclusion that I wanted to proceed with the
lumpectomy/sentinel node biopsy and then, when the final path report
is back about spread and need for chemo, I can decide to leave the
lumpectomy alone and get radiation, or get the mastectomy. I don't
O.T.-Retired16 Jun 2008 10:10 GMT11
Almost 25 years ago, with my diagnosis, I really didn't expect to become old
enough to retire!  I am so grateful that I've thoroughly enjoyed thirty
years of kindergarten teaching.  Yesterday was my last day.  My colleagues
became like second family, through the tough stuff and ...

Pathology Confusion16 Jun 2008 04:42 GMT26
I'm newly diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma and am mystified
about the Grade part of my pathology report.  SBR says 3 tubules 2
nuclear, 1 mitoses = 6 SBR.  I'm guessing this is bad news good news
time, gnarly abnormal cells which are hopefully not dividing too
BRCA testing06 Jun 2008 17:29 GMT3
KInd of like the message about keeping up the stoic appearance:
I saw the medical oncologist today, thought it would be a routine
appointment as all the tests were in, and she strongly advised holding
on radiation and due to my heritage and age, getting the BRCA testing.
sun cream saver06 Jun 2008 09:01 GMT4
I’ve been chosen to represent the Teenage Cancer Trust as I feel
really passionate about the work they do.  You see, I didn’t usually
wear sun cream in the UK.  But then I visited this site www.shunburn.co.uk
and it’s got some really interesting facts about what can happen if
Oncogene dx05 Jun 2008 01:50 GMT2
Well I got my score=12=low risk--from what I read, you want below 18.
I meet with the medical oncologist tomorrow--of course I did run the
numbers on adjuvant.com, and they vary if I put in my current age=49
vs. my age in 3 weeks=50--are there really radical body changes
