Question: Cancer, Heat & Magnets12 Jun 2006 09:11 GMT2
There are many theories of treatments for cancer, that involve
destroying it by heat and/or magnets, so I'm curious about this.

The following way sounds ridiculous:
Surgery Scheduled07 Jun 2006 23:07 GMT16
Sigh.
My surgeon has me scheduled for a lumpectomy on June 19th.  He wants to
remove one of the masses, see if it's cancerous and then if it is, he'll go
back in.
Help07 Jun 2006 17:36 GMT8
I only have one more chemo to go and am on day 6 after my last one but who
would think that the loss of taste (actually, loss would be a blessing -
everything, even water, tastes absolutely horrible) would be so hard to cope
with?  AARGGG !!!!
June 2006 follow up: "Is melanoma simply a Vitamin D deficiency cancer?"07 Jun 2006 16:16 GMT4
TO: All melanoma researchers, doctors, and patients.
A few years ago a study found the survival rate of melanoma on the
foot--the most common foot malignancy--to be just 1 in 2, significantly
worse than that elsewhere on the leg.  (See Journal of Foot and Ankle

Node status post chemo05 Jun 2006 23:12 GMT3
I had the following correspondence with my onc and was wondering if anyone
knew why the answer to the prognosis wasn't dependent on the nodal status
pre chemo since if it was positive - it indicates a local spread of the
cancer?
My films are ready!!!!05 Jun 2006 23:12 GMT5
My mother-in-law is on her way to get me so we can trek up to the hospital
to pick up my films and mammogram report which I need for my surgeon's
appointment tomorrow.
Wow, one part of this will actually be over tomorrow.  It's a "scary"
DCIS05 Jun 2006 04:39 GMT15
I was recently diagnosed with DCIS. They tell me it is not invasive and
100% curable. I am having a lumpectomy on June 19. My question is
this....they are also doing a node biopsy, removing the Centinel (sp?)
node and say they will remove a few more if there is any sign of the
Stereotactic Biopsy04 Jun 2006 15:37 GMT2
Can anyone out there tell me what a stereotactic biopsy is like? My
doctor is 99% certain that I don't have anything wrong, but wants me to
have a stereotactic biopsy for my own piece of mind.

Herceptin04 Jun 2006 15:02 GMT4
Anyone out there receiving Herceptin?  How are the side effects and your
tolerance?  Did you receive it concomitantly with chemo or afterwards?  For
advanced stage or for HER+ status?
Thanks for answering.
Got squished today...........03 Jun 2006 09:53 GMT19
.............. 7 times on my left breast!  Dang.  The tech said I'd be in
and out in 10 minutes; she was a little more than incorrect.  They kept
seeing "abnormalities" and wanted different angles.  I feel mangled and I
can't get the little sticker thingies off because it hurts to ...
female condoms?02 Jun 2006 21:36 GMT2
My wife is currently going through chemotherapy for breast cancer, with
the resulting mucositis.  Of course, the vaginal membranes are such
mucosa, and while her libido has dropped drastically, it has not
extinguished (thankfully), but PIV intercourse results in abrasion and
Initial consult done02 Jun 2006 21:02 GMT64
I met with my surgeon yesterday and lucky for me I liked him.  He was
personable, he answered my questions, he sat down with me and took his time.
He made a scary event the least scary it could be (hey, it's *still* scary,
though).
radiation to breast - yucky!02 Jun 2006 01:36 GMT7
I was hoping to get through the radiation without sied effects, but
have had the lot, sore-ness and redness started the first week, then
the fatigue started in the second week.  I felt like collapsing on my
desk at work, only wish I could take the time off.  Now hit with nausea
Missing posts02 Jun 2006 01:33 GMT6
Can anyone out there help me find my posts?  I just hate it when the status
bar says there are a few unread messages and I already scrolled thru a
couple hundred and can't find the highlighted message - there has to be a
better way but I'm a newcomer to newsgroups and don't know ...
