I may be coming back....19 Nov 2003 17:23 GMT5
I posted here during 2001 when my mom was receiving treatment for her
stage III breast cancer. She's done well and been NED until this
point. Unfortunately her last chest x-ray showed 'diffuse densities"
in her left lung (same side as BC). She has a CT scan tomorrow. We
Balsey aka Valerie19 Nov 2003 16:46 GMT6
Have just hear that Valerie is in hospital after a heart attack of some sort
and they are more than likely to be putting a stent in.  Will keep everyone
posted when I know more.
Capecitabine side effects19 Nov 2003 02:56 GMT5
My wife has recently started on a drug called capecitabine, an oral
chemotherapy drug, for a recurrence of her breast cancer. This drug can
cause hand-foot syndrome (redness & swelling of the skin on palms of the
hands and soles of the feet).  When it occurs, our oncologist stops my
Lengthy article on the Mediterrarean diet18 Nov 2003 15:07 GMT2
Very lengthy article on the Mediterrarean diet, specifically on the Isle of
Crete.  Apparently, they eat a lot of purslane - I've never seen this available
in any grocery in Texas at least.

Christmas Gifts for Stage 414 Nov 2003 01:46 GMT6
My mom is the type of gal that has everything she wants already. Usually, at
Christmas, I end up giving her and my Dad something generic just out of
frustration over not being able to find anything to get them. You know, like
those food gift packs or a table centerpiece.
Free medical journal site13 Nov 2003 19:50 GMT1
Just found a couple great sites for finding free access to
medical journals.

Patch for chemo nausea?13 Nov 2003 17:14 GMT23
Is there a patch for chemo nausea that would work, say, 8 hours while
you slept? My wife would rather not get up every 4 hours to take her
meds, she has enough trouble sleeping. Also, is it generally covered
by insurance?
I'd appreciate some feedback on this...13 Nov 2003 15:26 GMT9
I saw my pcp last week {11/4}. Had a good check up. {bp, heart, etc} We
were going over things that have occured the last year here. Mostly
side/after effects from chemo. For a few of my problems she perscribed
an estrogen cream. She told me she would _never_ give me an oral med due

In a study of cancer patients who had "spontaneous remissions", the most
commonly consumed foods and beverages included fresh-squeezed apple, grape,
carrot, and green leaf juices; broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, onions

Sad news11 Nov 2003 22:11 GMT8
Maybe I'm in the wrong place, but I just wanted to say that on October 27th,
2003, my cherished life partner, Janet, passed away after an 18 month
struggle with IBC.  Janet had mets to the bones and also to the brain.  She
suffered so much... Now she is my guardian angel in a place ...
Sad, special, not sure what to call this...11 Nov 2003 19:48 GMT4
Yesterday afternoon I talked briefly with my youngest.  She is 18.  She said
she had something for me and wasn't sure how to get it to me--was hoping I'd
get it before the next few days before the breast cancer 3-day.  She wouldn't
tell me what it was but said it was special--and ...
Possible delay in arm mobility.11 Nov 2003 18:45 GMT5
It's now over four weeks since my wife had her operation, including
axilliary node removal.  The cancer was contained and hopefully well
cleared.
Chris still seems to be dragging herself about, suffering extreme
Tamoxifin ??11 Nov 2003 18:39 GMT5
Does anyone take or know what the side effects of Tamoxifin are?  My
oncologist informed me this week that after I finish my last Chemo and
start and finish radiation treatments I will have to undergo 5 years of
some oral Chemo drug.  He did not say which one but others have told me
Change in 'dizziness' sensation11 Nov 2003 15:46 GMT4
Whatever has been happening has improved.  YES!  I just lay down for the first
time since getting up a few hours ago.  About 20 to 30 seconds later, 'the' or
I should say 'a' feeling started.  It was a much milder sensation than
previously.  What I saw as I stared at the ceiling, ...
