Software figures survival rate30 Oct 2003 22:40 GMT3
Wanted to share this. Our onco has this great software which gives up
to date survival statistics for your exact type, stage, and grade of
cancer. I think it was for all cancers, not just breast cancer. I
don't know what it is called, but US gov't stats are about 3 years
Help, please...30 Oct 2003 18:45 GMT3
This will be long, so please feel free to skip this message.   I got a
report from a recent PET scan that is not very good.  I thought I was
listening when my doc told me what it all meant, but apparently not, as now
I'm not sure about all of it.  Any insight you could give me would ...

question for the pros27 Oct 2003 04:14 GMT12
I was reading the other day that breast cancer was a systemic disease,
not a localized one.  That it does not begin in the breast and spread
but is systemic.  Is this true?  I will see if I can find the link.

in the forum at www.breastcancer.org, there was a discussion about
taxanes, specifically Taxol and Taxotere. It stated 'they delay recurrence and

ER+, PR-26 Oct 2003 10:01 GMT10
After a conversation with our allocated support nurse, I've been worrying
for a week that my wife's tumour was ER- and that Tamoxifen was not
indicated.  Tonight we saw the oncologist and the tumour (fully removed with
good margins) is ER+ but PR- and Tamoxifin is prescribed.
i want to thank all of you24 Oct 2003 03:54 GMT1
I want to thank all of you who have given my family your prayers.  My mom is
doing good.  The last visit to the doctor he gave her another shot of cobalt
just for caution.  He did this since her last mammogram came back cloudy.
When she had the biopsy it came back as a deposit again ...

Update on my wife24 Oct 2003 01:17 GMT4
Hello All!  I just want to let you know that my wife (42Y.O., diagnosed
stage IIb, 3 months A/C then 3 months of Taxotere), is doing well. Seems
that she had virtually every possible side effect... systemic edema, pleural
fluid, pericardial fluid, clogged tear ducts, deteriorating ...

Here is the link that I  found that states breast cancer is sytemic,
not localized.  I always thought that chemo was to prevent further
reoccurances but now understand that it goes after the systemic
cancer.  What exactly is the role of radiation?  Is it also a systemic

Just wanted to share some positive news...22 Oct 2003 01:37 GMT2
Despite the shoulder difficulties I am having, I wanted to share my progress.
On Saturday I hiked 19.5 miles--doing 'power-walk' with only a few short (few
minute stops--i.e. to use restroom) and on Sunday I did 13.5 miles.  This is in
accordance with training schedule for the ...
