I just received some info on asthma from my insurance copmpany. It mentioned a peak flow meter. Does anybody use this and if so, what are your recommendations. Do I need a prescription for this? Thanks.

Hello all I have an update::::: Well It's been 18 days since I was released from the hospital after a 7 day stay ...The I D doc had me taking zyvox, avalox and medrol by I V all 7 days...So 18 days and going strong seems the asthma is gone so I guess I had a bacteria infection ...

The Wall Street Journal on Friday has an article about an FDA official questioning the safety of Serevent. Anyone have further info on this? Does it make you nervous that he looks at the drug with the same suspicion as VIOXX?

I suppose if one were to attempt to followup on the link between increased blood cell mass / erythrocytosis .. one might find a link then between INCREASED leukemia / uncontrolled red blood cell production .. and asthma / allergies .. ?

I have been using Flovent with a spacer for a number of years and it had been working just fine. Now they will only give me Flovent HFA, which I still use with a spacer per their recommendation -- but it really does not seem to be working as well. Glaxo even sent me a replacement ...
