  I haven't posted in a while.I just wanted to share a more positive
approach to dealing with this illness.I lost my mom in
January.Recently i realized what a wonderful bond i made with my mom

I last posted in late April about moving my mother into an assisted
living place.
Well, it's been quite a ride since then  She was in assisted living
for 13 days.  Had a UTI, fell, ended up in the hosptial for 5 days,

My dad has Mom's POA and HCPOA. She is definitely not competent to
handle her own financial affairs -- she does not remember the date,
how to write a check, etc. -- or medical ones, as she remembers little
of her own medical history and cannot manage her meds.

My Dad has what I guess is late stage 3 or early stage 4 AD. His decline
during the past 6 months is dramatic. Most noticable is that is long term
memory is getting bad too.
He often says he feels "really strange"; i.e., "out of touch with reality"

I posted previously here about MIL and her issues related to dementia.
The posters here were most helpful.
She recently fractured her shoulder and not much could be done for the
injury, but home exercises after the swelling went down.

The doctor wanted to run some test on his heart.  He ordered a monitor and an
echocardiogram for him yesterday.  He was fine in the doctor's office but as
soon as we got home, he yanked all the wires he had attached and pulled off
the monitor.
