Just some thoughts on our current source of frustration.
She is self described as having Alzheimer's and is acting paranoid. Hmm. Yet
you are still answering her accusations as if her 'reasoner' weren't broken.
We can't calm her like we might a loved one, with distractions and ...
guardianships of the elderly28 Jan 2008 21:47 GMT7
Anyone considering a guardianship or conservatorship for an elderly
person should beware. The process is not what you might think. Lawyers
paint a rosy picture of a process which might turn out to be your
worst nightmare in which you, even though you have been the person
Lewy Body Dementia28 Jan 2008 00:12 GMT4
My Dad has LBD.  If you don't know of it, the symptoms are very
similar to Alzheimers, and is very often mis diagnosed, either way.
I'm struggling to care for my Dad, and work full time.  Fortunately my
employer sent me home with a computer, so I can work and take care of

In the begining of December my Father (who is 77 yrs old)  told my
husband that there were people in the house at differnt times and
different ages.  They don't talk to him and aren't rowdy.  Well we
took him to his family doctor who had him admitted to the hospital for

I think my mother has had small strokes.  She's dragging her right foot
a bit and her right eye seems to be a bit more closed than her left.
Took her to the doctor last week and I believe he recommended baby
aspirin once a day.  At least I think that's what he said.  Would this

Dealing With Dry Skin24 Jan 2008 22:30 GMT1
As we get older our skin produces less of the natural oil that helps
it retain its moisture. There are many contributing factors that can
dry our skin. For example, excessive bathing in hot water, or very dry
air can cause your skin to become dry. Dry skin can be prevented. The
illness always wins!24 Jan 2008 02:05 GMT3

What to do to keep from getting Alzheimer's20 Jan 2008 10:00 GMT32
It appears that there is no certain way to keep oneself from
getting AD.  These are the various things I've read about as
_possibly_ valuable.  I'd be very curious to know if anyone has
more information about any of them, pro or con, or has any others

Person with Alzheimer's not eating r drinking16 Jan 2008 15:16 GMT6
My mother is 86 and has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's for 2 years.
In September 2007 she moved to a nursing home and adapted relatively
well. She had been eating little for two years but had a good level of
energy. However, in the last month she has stopped eating and is
Deteriorating Ethics Behind Medical/Healthcare Press Releases15 Jan 2008 03:41 GMT2
As a writer in the medical and healthcare blogosphere, I read and
write about press releases all the time. I've seen a disturbing new
trend. Many of them, in an attempt to get noticed, read like this
"breakthrough" is happening tomorrow and that the crippled will walk,
What will the "experts" create next: Frankenstein?14 Jan 2008 18:35 GMT5
While there's no cure in sight (except guesswork) from the experts on
Lou Gehrig's Disease, Chronic Fatigue, Parkinsons, AD, MS ALS, Lupus and
a host of others, they now want to clone monkeys, animal/human varieties
and humans! Has this world gone mad?
