I have noticed that sometimes I think mom pretends to know someone
because after they leave she will ask me "who was that lady"? I tell her
our neighbor for 30 years. I guess she really doesn't want people to
know that she doesn't remember them. she can put on a good act. but then

My Grandmother is in Assisted Living in Florida & I'm in PA. The Doc ordered

Last stage21 Apr 2007 21:35 GMT18
How long does the last stage of Alzheimer's last. My mother can't
speak, she hasn't been able to walk for about a year, her arms and
legs have become rigid, she is having trouble sitting up, she is
incontinent. This has lasted about 6 months so far, and I don't know
The sometimes amusing side of patient care19 Apr 2007 21:21 GMT4
When she isn't being a pain in the butt, my mother really cracks me up
sometimes.  She likes Dancing with the Stars even though she seldom
stays up late enough to watch it.  Today, she said:
"Is Jerry Springer on again this year?  I heard he gave up his show to
does it mean anything when they sleep a lot?19 Apr 2007 12:24 GMT12
I have noticed mom keeps saying how tired she is and she sleeps a lot
now. I catch her cat napping during the day and she goes to bed around
7:30 am and sleeps until 8:00 am is this part of the disease or is it
old age?
Feeling guilty of my thoughts19 Apr 2007 05:48 GMT5
I sometimes feel guilty of wishing mom would go home and be at peace. I
know she must be frustrated about having to live like this and I am too.
I want to get a life again. I hope it is normal feelings on my part to
think like this.

she held up a dollar bill.   This explains all the ...

Thermostat wars!16 Apr 2007 01:49 GMT9
We have huge fights almost daily about the temperature in the house. It
could be 90 F inside, and my mother would still be complaining she was
cold.  I, on the other hand, get ill when it's 75 or higher.  Neither of
us are imagining it.  Her hands are like ice cubes when I'm ...
