This is a very difficult thing for many of us, and it certainly was for me.
My father was abusive and unkind in his early years, and even in his old age
he hasn't mellowed all that much.   But now we get along well, why is that?

LOL...I was at my moms today.... for weeks she has been telling me my

i took my husband to VA med. center yesterday. first time there in 6
weeks, he ask if he had ever been there before. he has been going for
about 4-5 yrs. regularlly.
i am a slow- learner but that really shocked me

A man got out of the nursing home somehow and was wandering around and
went on to the highway ( I live outside a major city and that is where
this happened)  anyway he wandered on to a major interstate and several
cars swerved but eventually he was hit....I totally lost it thinking

I know alot of you will not agree with my decisions but I have been
really trying hard to take care of myself first....may sound selfish but
in order for you to understand you would have to know my past with my
parents....they revovled their whole life around each other and treated

One thing I have had to do with both my parents....one thing I had
trouble with since about the only good thing I say we had was
honesty...I now find myself telling them little "white lies" so keep the
peace....IE...yeah we will go home later.....no I dont have a way to

I just wanted to say i am sorry if I dont seem supportive...I do read
your posts but I am overwhelmed...it amazes me how so many stories are
different and yet similar...I wish you all the peace I have found....it
may be selfish but I am dealing with it as I AM able and I am angry ...

since i am not aware of a local support group in my area ( and could not
go if there was ) i would appreciate being able to contact some one on
line to compare notes.
i made one dear friend on line, she had heart attack & died about 18
