Finding a Lost Cell Phone30 Nov 2004 18:53 GMT19
This has been driving me crazy since yesterday; I know AD patients often
misplace things in odd places, so I'm hoping against hope someone will have
some ideas for finding it and helping keep Dad from losing it again.
I was out yesterday and when I phoned home my father started ...

no need to fight30 Nov 2004 13:48 GMT8
gentlemen,
i am so sorry to see this situation disintegrate into bitterness.
there comes a point where denial and habitually soft-soaping the situation
reaches some sort of moment of truth and it just no longer works.
Checking in to the nursing home.30 Nov 2004 04:35 GMT13
I will be checking my mother in to a nursing home within the next 6
weeks.  If I tell her where we are going when we get in the car she of

the parking lot, she might panic.  My thought is to not tell her and

First day of day care today28 Nov 2004 00:54 GMT11
I enrolled my mother in an Adult Day Care program near home and today was her
first day. My mother is physically very capable at 77, but the Alzheimer's has
progressed to the point where she is unable to care for herself and is quite a
burden on my 84 year old father, who is the ...
I found 101 things!27 Nov 2004 16:02 GMT2
Life is very interesting with a 90 year old father with AD whose kind
and considerate personality is in tact. He just has no idea where in
time and space he is. But he still remembers family. Sometimes I wonder
if he's misdiagnosed. (I know denial) So much I want to ask. Just don't
101 things to do27 Nov 2004 15:49 GMT2
I'm a lurker- but love it here. I printed and have now lost the
fabulous list of 101 things to do with a person with AD. It was
excellent! MAybe you just want to send it to me?
Thanks!
Newbie Stuff26 Nov 2004 17:26 GMT21
Since I started reading here in late August, I have learned a lot.
I managed to find a bunch of books at our local resource library for
Alzheimer's  - and found them to be quite helpful. I especially enjoyed
"The Forgetting," by David Shent. Has anyone else read this one?

Moving Day So Far24 Nov 2004 17:13 GMT4
Well, it's really been quite surprising: moving day has so far gone
without a hitch.
They (her friends), made her a part of the process and she was 100%
"into" it, complete with decorating the new place, setting up some

Screaming23 Nov 2004 21:58 GMT10
My mother who is 88, is in a nursing home and is screaming constantly.
She has both delirium and dementia, maybe vascular dementia.  She is
also in a wheelchair.  They are currently giving her Zyprexa, Depakote
and now also Zoloft to get her to stop screaming.  These were
Aricept and Namenda22 Nov 2004 12:36 GMT15
I just found this list while doing a search on Aricept+Namenda.  My Mum is
93 yr old and failing healthwise, energy-wise, some short term memory loss,
etc. She had a TIA in Jan and then a relatively mild stroke in May about 4
yrs ago and then one drug after another has been added.
