Delay of meds31 Aug 2004 02:41 GMT13
Hello, all.
We have a working diagnosis on Mom of vascular dementia. The PT scan (no MRI
because she has a pacemaker) shows not enough blood reaching the brain, esp.
on the left side. Ultrasounds of the carotids are clear, though. The doctor

Selling a living will to mom.28 Aug 2004 04:54 GMT43
My mom read an article suggesting that witholding feeding tubes -- as
specified in 'living wills' could cause pain. When you are brain dead,
do you feel pain?

Progress report--27 Aug 2004 10:58 GMT6
My father-- after a week in the hospital and a month in a nursing home
(while we scrambled to find a decent facility for him near our home) -- has
moved into a nice group home where we managed to find him a cozy room.
He just didn't seem to be motivated to do much. We were beginning ...

I find it amazing that a newsgroup does not exist for Parkinsons Disease
when one sees just how many are suffering from this illness.
When Doctors and caregivers disagree26 Aug 2004 16:48 GMT8
I'm sure many of you have experienced situations where family members
have disagreed with the advice of physicians. In our case, it's tougher
because the doctor is the oldest of four brothers and also 400 miles away
from my mom.

Mom passed away24 Aug 2004 10:09 GMT7
Mom passed away at the nursing home this morning.  This group has been a
great help.  I may continue to read/post here.  Mom wasn't very happy lately
and it is merciful that she went.  She lasted just as long as the money and
I was going to apply for Medicaid next month.  She was ...
Day Care Question21 Aug 2004 02:33 GMT1
I have been between jobs for about a year, temping occasionally in a slow
market. I don't know when I will get a permanent job or where it will be.  I
may have to commute farther than I wanted to.  I've started looking as far as
25 miles away.
