I'm getting frustrated.... sometimes I wish I could just crazy glue her butt
to her chair...
AZ and heart failure are a lousy combination .... physically she's just not
up to much ... but her judgement is so poor that she just doesn't know

Namenda & John15 Jul 2004 02:29 GMT4
Dear Friends,
I think the last time I wrote I told you that John had been switched
back to 10mg of namenda as the 10 twice a day was too much---
In my opinion, the namenda probably made John worse in the long run
Update on Mom15 Jul 2004 02:28 GMT3
Yesterday we got to check out the local ER for the first time since Mom and
Dad relocated. She had one of her "spells" -- woozy, lightheaded, turned
cold and clammy, sweating profusely. Dad acted as if nothing unusual, and I
called the EMS. (This woman is six-weeks post-pacemaker, ...

She's checked in10 Jul 2004 21:32 GMT2
First I would like to thank those that replied to my question "Tell mom
or not?" The advice given was very very helpful.
The family got their mom checked in yesterday and I'm sure some of you
can relate when I tell you how hard it was to tell her that she was
Personality changes09 Jul 2004 21:48 GMT5
Aside from the other difficulties and changes, one thing I've noticed with my
MIL is almost a freedom to "speak her mind."  Although some of her comments are
so off-the-wall (yet pertinent to the situation), I have to do a double-take.
For example, on our most recent visit, we spent ...
Getting Paid for Caregiving09 Jul 2004 15:39 GMT23
Turkey in the straw - I really agree - you should be getting paid.
After all, if you were not pitching in, your sister would be obliged
to make  costly arrangements for an alternative - either moving her in
with them entirely, and hiring respite help or putting her in daycare,
Namenda and Aircept09 Jul 2004 12:00 GMT9
Reading these posts makes me wonder if I took my Mother of of Namenda too
soon. She was on it for 4 weeks with 10 mg twice a day as prescribed by her
doctor. He said Namenda goes well with Aircept. Problem was we saw her
change real fast. Obvious sign was her preoccupation or ...
Out-Of-Context Speech09 Jul 2004 07:48 GMT2
I posted a week or so back about trying to come up with a concise
explanation of a communication problem I am seeing with my father.  Well
this afternoon, he gave me a perfect example of it.  This went in my journal
of his cognitive problems today:
Exasperation is when...09 Jul 2004 05:23 GMT5
My father and I -- two bachelors and two cats sharing a small house near the
water (salt air coats everything if the windows are open, about as fast as I
could wipe it down), I've long since given up trying to keep the house super
clean, or even terribly tidy; I concentrate on ...

My Introduction09 Jul 2004 03:56 GMT3
My mother is 65, diabetic, had breast cancer, diagnosed with Early
Onset Alzheimer's, and has recently had to move into a nursing
facility. All of this occurred within the last 3 to 4 years ago, with
the hardest events for me occurring in the last year.
