AD vs. vascular dementia31 Jul 2004 12:15 GMT2
Got Mom's brain scan back today. It's showing "chronic ischemic changes"
which the doc says means she's not getting enough blood to the brain, and
this may well be cause of her forgetfulness and confusion. (Further concern:
damage is more on left hemisphere than right, which ...

Help...I need advice31 Jul 2004 04:05 GMT5
Hello everyone...I am new to this group and have a question. I don't know
much about this condition, but I am thinking my sister-in-law may have it or
early signs of it. She lives across the USA from us and has been having
weird telephone conversations, telling us that there are ...

I'll be gone for a few weeks --- I *am* going to do something
that I've been wanting to do for years, go cheer Lance Armstrong
on as part of the crowd alongside the roads at the Tour de France
for the next couple of weeks.  I'll tent camp in the Alps and

Drugs to Calm Aggression30 Jul 2004 02:05 GMT6
Can someone tell me what sort of drugs doctors prescribe to Alzheimers patients
who become aggressive?  I keep hearing vague statements about medications but
nothing specific?  Is it just stuff like Klonopin (which makes memory worse) or
is it something else?
mother passed away30 Jul 2004 02:03 GMT2
After three visits to the emergency room in three months my mother was
continuing to struggle.  Some days her dementia seemed better.  Thursday
night I stopped to visit her, gave her a foot bath and rubbed her feet.
I still remember the smile on her face.  She loved it when my ...

What can be done about nursing homes??25 Jul 2004 14:30 GMT12
I am so fed up with the home my mother is in. She is TOTALLY out of it,
so she can't complain if anything is wrong. I noticed about 6 months ago
that her teeth looked bad and complained to the nurse's about it. Long
story short, they finally got her checked and her gums are badly
