I'm back17 Apr 2004 04:40 GMT11
Dear Friends,
This is my second day on the computer in a little more than a month,
so I fell way behind in reading messages.    First, my heartfelt

How do I educate Dad?13 Apr 2004 12:38 GMT2
I have been sharing with you my efforts to get my Mom diagnosed and my
parents relocated.
Friday, my mom passed out cold. She has a history of cardiac problems. She
came to, but then was too weak to move off the bed for about six hours. I

NY Times:  Nominal benefits seen in drugs (AChEI's) for AD09 Apr 2004 00:55 GMT1
Here's an article to help complicate the issue of acetylcholinesterase
inhibitor use.  It seems to me that the jury is out and won't be
returning for some time.  If I still had the choice, my Dad would be
on AChEI's and memantine, without question.

Exelon (rivastigmine)08 Apr 2004 03:27 GMT5
Does anyone have any experience with Exelon?  My mother, Ann, has been
on it for about 6 weeks, but only titrated up to a useful dose (6mg a
day in 3mg pills twice a day).  So far I haven't seen any improvement.
One problem is that the package says to take it with a full meal, but

Did anyone read a recently published study questioning the
effectiveness of Aricept if taken right before bed?
If you know of a link to this study, the link would be greatly
appreciated.

I'm new to this board.  What I've read here has been helpful and
interesting.  I'd like to first give some background about my family's
involvement with Alzheimer's, then our experience with Memantine and,
finally, some specific questions about your experiences with

Chrons disease is obviously a reactive infection. It's being
treated in England but NOT America. Why, I don't have a clue. Could it
be all the money being made on immune-suppresants and other drugs of
that ilk? I can understand skepticism in all groups but this disease

My wife and I went to see Rosie last night at the NH.
Normally, we are there in the mornings but just thought
