So far so good30 Apr 2004 02:36 GMT5
We are enjoying our newfound leisure to no end!   Still running around with
a lot of paperwork and getting all the bases covered, but it feels like a
vacation after what life has been like around here for a long time.
I called the NH today a couple of times and it seems that all is ...
John & Namenda30 Apr 2004 02:12 GMT4
Dear Friends,
We are still waiting for the pharmacy to call & say the namenda is in.
I plan on talking to the pharmacist tomorrow to make sure it's been
requested & that somebody didn't hit the wrong computer key.
Safety over Happiness30 Apr 2004 02:05 GMT12
I have just been called by my mother's day care.  They were all upset
because my mother told them that she walked to the store and got lost and a
stranger gave her a ride home.
They told me that I was not taking proper care of her because I let her go

Ida is safely in the nursing home28 Apr 2004 04:50 GMT13
We dropped Ida off at noon today at the local nursing home.  The place is
very nice, clean and spacious and apparently very well run.   We talked to
social worker, ward nurse/director, admissions person, activities directors,
dietician, and so many people I can't remember them all.

I just want to let those of you who remember Catharine: she died at 10:00 PM

Texas now.

Time is ticking26 Apr 2004 16:52 GMT2
As Ida is innocently sitting and eating her breakfast, I am growing more
nervous and feeling more like a rat.  Poor thing hasn't a clue and I am not
going to upset her by giving her one.
This is going to be VERY hard to do.   I hope I don't cry.
Super good news26 Apr 2004 16:45 GMT26
Ida has been accepted in a local nursing home for Monday.   I just got the
call a few minutes ago.
This is an absolutely gorgeous place, quite new, big spacious rooms, and
only about 7 miles from my house.   Ida will have the bed by the window in a
My FIL died last Thursday26 Apr 2004 06:47 GMT9
I've been hanging around this group for a few years, listening and
occasionally asking for advice about my father-in-law.  You all have
been wonderful.  So, I just thought I'd let you know that my FIL died
last week.
Today25 Apr 2004 16:58 GMT23
Today we took Ida to the doctor to get the physical that the nursing home
application requires.   They were all ASTONISHED at how she has declined.
The doctor and his staff all complimented us for having stuck it out so long
as we have.   Three years, it has been!

Poor Tom24 Apr 2004 23:47 GMT1
Tom, I'm with you. When my Mom had the faculties to remember where she
lived, and remembered how she got home, then she was able to go where
she wanted. It's only when she couldn't remember who we were or where
she was that we kept her with one of us. She still could go outside
