This compares TUVP ( not the same as PVP of course) with TURP:

I had the "Greenlight laser" PVP.   What is the difference between this and
other lasers?   Dunno.   I suspect the wavelength (frequency) is a
critically important to the prostate and therefore an essential part of a
successful outcome...I am only guessing that the greenlight has been proven
over time to allow better work on the prostate itself versus the bladder or
the muscles in the vicinity.  Here's a direct quote from LASERSCOPE.COM  :
"Older laser technologies attempt to treat enlarged prostate. These lasers
use heat to destroy but not remove tissue. The destroyed tissue is left in
the body and is expelled over time, causing urinary pain and discomfort for
several weeks. Only Laserscope's GreenLight laser system uses a patented
green light laser to vaporize and remove tissue, leaving a wide open channel
for urine to pass through. Results and relief are rapid. Recovery is quick
and comfortable..."   Best wishes to you and for a successful outcome.

"Mike Kapitan" <dontspam@nospam.net> wrote in message [SNIP]...I'd like to
know if anyone has  any feedback, negative or positive on the Holmium laser
system as it  applies to BPH. My doc reiterated to me that the end result
will be as good as a green light PVP but of course he hasn't done any PVPs.

A few weeks ago I posted a question re PVP vs other laser treatments for
BPH. At the time I couldn't remember exactly which laser system my uro
uses (I live in a rural area; the nearest uros who do PVP live hundreds
of miles away). With all the positive feedback here from those who've
had a PVP procedure, I'm sold. However, I'd like to know if anyone has
any feedback, negative or positive on the Holmium laser system as it
applies to BPH. My doc reiterated to me that the end result will be as
good as a green light PVP but of course he hasn't done any PVPs.
