The cause is probably menopause. There's no known cure, other than time. In the meantime, treat the symptoms as needed. An ablation is a drug-free way to end the bleeding, but if she's near/in menopause, she may not want to undergo a (minor) surgical procedure.
This is of course assuming that she's seen a doctor and all other causes of menorrhagia have been eliminated.

It seems to me that this is a rather nasty drug to be taking which seems to treat the effect, rather than the cause.
Any help with respect to this drug and/or alternative treatments or courses of investigation would be greatly appreciated.
