Re: Eye Question

Cynthia Ward17 Dec 2005 07:58
I also  have diabetes and polymyositis i have been on pred 8 years
varying doses lately 25 to 30 daily this he wanted to do for 5 days as
long as the eye is clearing.
The pred ha bee the only thing to control my Lupus but the trade off is
tough. I had tried cytoxan for a year I was also on gamma globulin IV
for a year all the usual treatments for Lupus and failed them all all my
drs and I debate the pred issue all the time but I have never been able
to go off completely I have lung involvement and central nervous
involvement. I am on the strong glucophage er and glipizoid and novolog
70/30 they have really controlled my sugar really well
But it can be a battle when I and fighting a cold or regular illness.
I too wondered if it was related to the fall but my rheumy really feels
it is inflammation he is good and I trust him. And he had to earn that
it has been a long hard road and I do my research and he likes that so
we work well together.
But I do have to say I was a little scared.
Not to long ago I heard my daughter trying to explain my Lupus to a
friend  she said it is kinda like dying slowly from the inside out...
That was tough to hear her say

Cindy,
Do you think this could be related to your fall the other day?
I hope you can get into a dr soon. Do you take the 80mg a day?
I was on 40mg a day years ago and had to get off the med, it
tore me up, thats why I'm having so much trouble with all my
diseases now, its hard for the doc to find anything I can take
since I'm diabetic with Lupus and Polymyositis (muscle disease).
The prednizone shoots my blood sugar up to stroke level.
Anyway, with your fall the other day then this, I'm just concerned,
and personally, I've never heard of this episcleritis before but there's
so much to learn about what these diseases can cause, I'm finding
out things all the time. I sure hope you get into a doc soon.
Take care!
Rhonda

Last night I had a little bleed in left eye. like a burst vessel that
spread out. We looked it up and found a thing called episcleritis it is
Lupus related like an inflammation. showed a pic that looked just like
my eye. I called dr. first thing my eye specialist is out of town and no
one to see there for week they said call rheumy he called back also out
of office but said to up pred to 80mg Buzzing now
he said sounded like same thing we found. Take the pred until it is gone
if doesn't go call back
Anyone had this? just wondering
Thanks Cindy W.
