>Whats your experience with anti-depressants on treatment?

Sorry, I can't be very helpful in that area.

Back when I was young and naive starting therapy ;-) my bcld was *very*
reluctant to prescribe anti-depressants up front, saying "everything goes
through the liver" and I could do without any more challenges to that organ
unless necessary. Of course, one should remember this is the same doctor that
allowed me to languish with hemoglobin counts in the 8s for five weeks before
he finally prescribed the Epogen that my insurance would have covered at 11.
So this might be a cautionary tale more than anything else.

That said, as screwed up as I was physically, I didn't have much in the way of
psychological side effects, and I never felt I would have done any better with
anti-Ds on board. I didn't have the prototypical crying jags or anger issues.
I did have a touch of the "feeling sorry for myself" stuff, but just
remembering there were/are folks in a lot worse shape than me got me through
that phase.

It wasn't pretty, though. I met with an old friend in the Big Apple this week
and he was relieved to see me looking like "my self" again, as he saw me in
the depths of tx and was having his doubts I was going to survive. Which is
pretty much what everyone that saw me through that year says now.

Anyway....Here's my take: everyone has different body chemistry, and if one
draws an unlucky genetic card they may be susceptible to head sides that
others are lucky enough to miss. And there's no shame in using anti-D,
especially if it helps someone get through treatment.

As for which one to use, that's something I not only have no experience in,
it's something I don't even have an *opinion* on.
And *that* is *damned rare* ;-)

Cheers
