My initial post was misleading, partly in order to keep the question simple.

However, after further conversations, the reading over 9 was not A1c - it
was venous.  That mistake was mine, after getting some of the many
diagnostic criteria in my head muddled and making another post about my own
A1c.  After some checks with my meter and checking every source of diagnosis
limits, I am happy that it is IGT and not T2.

The "OK" part was misleading as well.  You'll notice that I did not go into
any detail at all on the post.  The doc did go into D&E and did give some
advice.  Not sure on the detail, but this person is not daft and is getting
info from a variety of sources anyway.

I have had a good look around and found only minimal info on IGT.  The
problem with info sources for IGT is that the problems and treatment for IGT
are pretty much the same as for T2.  However, IGT is not T2 although it will
become T2 unless it is dealt with.

Denial is not going to be a problem in this case, but it would be an
advantage from a psychologial point of view to separate the two.  We all
know the problems that denial can cause with T2 and IGT is effectively a
warning of T2.  It should be possible to reverse IGT or stop/delay the
progression to T2 if it is managed correctly.  However, it would be far to
easy for someone with IGT to just think "I have not got diabetes, so I'm ok
for now".

So the question still remains:  Are there any sources of info specifically
on IGT apart from a single page mention on the usual main sources (mendosa,
DUK, ADA, NEHL)?

I know someone who has an A1c of over 9 - doc says ok till it hits 10.

Most of the references I have checked out go straight into T2.  Got gretchen
becker's prevention book on order, but could do with some references that
separate out T2 and pre-T2 - for the psychological angle.

Any suggestions?
