Your description could be a cracked root or a dead pulp. The GP or the
endodontist should be able to tell you better. If you have room for the
wisdom teeth and are using them effectively, then I suspect it will be well
worth your while to restore the tooth.

think they're keepers.

Regarding crowning wisdom teeth - this is my second to get done. First
one didn't need a root canal and is working perfectly.

I just thought the my symptoms were odd. Since only one corner is
pressure sensative. Going to see an Endodontis in a couple of weeks
so we shall see.

Every once in a while I will see the patient who has slightly smaller third
molars which are in perfect alignment with 3-5 mm keratinized gingiva all
the way around them. These get restored rather than extracted. The vast
majority of third molars do not present this way.

Have done the rare few myself, (RCT and Crn)
when the 1st and 2nd molars are missing, for a RPD abutment.

Agree. I've crowned very few wisdom teeth over the last 26 years
and I might have done a root canal in 1 (partial denture abutment).

Not having seen the tooth, I cannot be specific. I would say I doubt it is
worth the effort, unless you have a large dental arch, the wisdom tooth has
a good tooth to chew against, and the tooth is otherwise in FANTASTIC shape.

Hi,

Just wondering if anybody else went through this and what the results
were.

I cracked a wisdom tooth - no idea how. Just started becoming
sensative to hot/cold and pressure. My dentist (who is very good) gave
me my options. I decided I would keep the tooth and get it capped.
While I wore the temporary cap I noticed I was still sensative to
pressure (not cold or hot though). My dentist temporarily glued the
permanent cap just to see if the pain would subside. It didn't.

The sensativity is very specific - i can press lightly (with my finger)
on all four corners of the tooth and only one corner brings on the
pain. It never bothers me without pressure and is uneffected by cold
and hot.

Is it possible for one root to need "canaling"? Or is it possible the
tooth is still cracked in one area?
