Hello everyone,
Although I haven't had any luck in the past, I'm going to give contacts
another shot. My problem stems from very dry eyes. I was told that some
of the newer silicon contacts should be more helpful but I'm wondering
if they are available in toric.

Thanks

Not as of this writing. I hope to have some info later in the week about
when they might be available, at least in the USA.

I'd suggest contacting your eye doctor and ask him/her to call J&J (for
Acuvue Advance) and Ciba (for Focus Night&Day) and ask the companies.
The more they understand the need for the product (read: profitable),
the sooner they will bring it to market.

Meanwhile, there is another toric soft for dry eye option: Proclear
Compatible Toric.  I've had good luck with that.  But if your eyes are
truly "very dry", you should try to determine if there is a (fixable)
underlying problem causing it and know that there are some new medical
(including dietary and pharmaceutical) treatments for the condition.

It depends on where you live.  PureVision lenses are available as toric as
of this month, but a lawsuit prevents their sale in the US.

It is not surprising that silicon contact lenses do not work. They are
opaque to visible light.. Getting them would be a difficult task in itself.

Could you mean silicone?
