What's the best, most durable AR coating for glasses?
I also want it to be hydrophobic.

As far as I can tell, it is unavailable or too expensive. It used to be
possible to get hot deposited quarter-wave coatings on glass that would
reduce reflection to 1% per surface from 4%. It would be virtually
impossible to remove those coatings accidentally. It seems that
dispensing opticians do not know about such past history, The use of
truly durable coatings is limited by the almost complete domination of
the market by low temperature plastic lenses.

These days however, it appears impossible to obtain glass lenses with
hot coatings from dispensing opticians. For hundreds of dollars, you
could get a company like OCLI to run a custom coating run. If you were
that rich, they could provide you with a durable multilayer coating with
even less reflectivity that covers a large portion of the visible
spectrum.

coating and are available in single vision gray and brown colors (hard

This AR’s hydrophobic properties allow water droplets to easily run
off the surface of the lens without stains or streaks. These
hydrophobic properties also help to remove smudges, dust, dirt and
fingerprints, making the lenses easy to clean and maintain. Tests have
shown this advanced coating is very durable, to resist scratching and
peeling throughout the life of the lens.

The Super Hydrophobic AR on these finished lenses provides high
transmission, to let more light through the lens and allow the wearer
to see clearer, sharper images with the benefits of Transitions® VI
Photochromic Technology. At the same time, the Super Hydrophobic AR
prevents annoying reflections from coming off the wearer’s lenses, and
has a pleasing, uniform reflected color.
