Would some of the medical professionals mind weighing in on the BAK
question?  It seems a widespread believe (after surfing around) that
this stuff is really bad news, with people going so far as to claim
that it was the sole cause of their dry eye or MGD.  Is there any
science or empirical data to back this up?  I'm seeing some benefit
from taking Alrex, but I have MGD and these claims are making me a
little nervous.

Chuck,

If you search this newsgroup, you'll find posts where I've included
NUMEROUS links to controlled clinical studies that show exactly how
quickly BAK begins to damage HEALTHY corneas.

Tht's called risk.

Alrex is being prescribed for the perception that it will bring you
some reward.

The risk:reward calculation is best left to you and your doctor to
determine.

It's harmful, though.  If it were me, I'd ask whether or not there are
ANY preservative-free options.
