PRK Issues 6 Months Later

Hello everyone,

I'm writing this on behalf of my sister.  She had PRK in September
2008  (she's 23 years old). She had the typical recovery - painful
first few days, better vision each day and was 20/20 or better from
about the second week on.

One big issue she's had since about the second week post-op is a
discomfort in her upper left eye, the white part under the eyelid. It
feels like a constant eyelash in her eye and nothing makes it go away.
It's been diagnosed as mild GPC. She'll be seeing an allergist soon to
see if it's an allergic reaction, since it seems to increase/decrease
in intensity over time. Has anyone else had anything like this?

Her second issue only began 3 days ago. Her vision began fluctuating -
reading a magazine or watching TV, especially stuff up close,
everything was blurry. Her eyes felt very strained, and she had some
dizziness and headaches. Is this just her eyes adjusting? She's
getting very nervous about the situation since things don't seem to be
improving.

Any help would be MUCH appreciated...!

I've seen tons of GPC but it's almost always stimulated by a foreign body
such as a contact lens or even a suture. It isn't an allergy to the foreign
body, but rather to the gunk that builds up on it, aggravated by physical
stimulation.

That sounds like hyperopia.
