Repairing a Displaced Lens

I know somebody who had the lens in their eye displaced by hard blow,
causing many of the zonules to break. Has somebody's natural lens been
reattached, instead of using an IOL? We want to know if it's possible
to repair the lens without replacing it with an artificial one, and if
not, when why?

Replacing the lens would require reattaching the zonules, which, as
far as I know, has never been done.  Any blow hard enough to break
zonules will likely cause a cataract eventually anyway, so cataract
surgery and IOL would be needed.

Even inserting an IOL into an eye with broken zonules is difficult and
requires a special lens and technique.
