Are the Purevisions still the only multifocal silicon hydrogel contact
lenses? Or did some new models come out recently

Thanks in advance for the info.

That Bugs  Bunny refrain meaning there are no new SIHY MF lenses out.
Surprising. I recall reading on this board months ago that others were
on their way.

Any news?

How does Ciba Focus Progressives compare to Purevisions?  In any
respect, from comfort to vision acuity.

I don't know, as I never tried the Focus Progressives.

However, that is off-topic, because the FPs are not Si-Hy (afaik).

Sure wish Ciba would make a Night and Day Progressive!

PS- Since the silicon hydrogel materials are obviously so much superior to
other soft lens materials, much better for eye health, etc., I'm surprised
that the other materials are still made and prescribed.

At some point, nearly every material was "superior to other materials."

Every material has pros and cons. True that SiHy has better permeability,
but some people get heavy deposits they don't see with plain old polymacon.

Plus, some people have been through several brands and shapes trying to find
a comfortable fit. If none of the SiHy lenses were as comfortable, would you
make them switch?

Speaking as a patient, I have definite opinions on this.  I don't
currently wear contacts, but I wore them for ten years.  Over that time
period, my OD switched me several times, as the industry went from vial
contacts, to quarterly and then to monthly, discontinuing the ones I was
currently wearing.  I believe that I was an easy patient, tolerating
most contacts well and finding them easy to adapt to.  Still, if I had
something that was working, I wasn't about to change without a good
reason.

One factor, is that it appears that N&D is twice as expensive.

Of course, you could not make anyone switch!

However, I'm still surprised that in 2009, there is still only one
multifocal silicon hydrogel lens available, and no multifocal toric si-hy
lens.

Anyone here know, if something new will be coming out soon?
