But there's that nagging distinction again, Mike.  You use science,
and follow the evidence toward whatever conclusion it might support.

Otis starts with a fervently held belief -- rooted in a combination of
faith and bitterness from having had his dream of flying commercial
planes snatched out from under him -- and backs out toward what he
considers support, ignoring science, logic, reason, evidence, and
thought.

Plus, he's a few sandwiches short of a picnic, these days....
