Weak prescription - contacts suitable?

Hi all,

I have a fairly weak prescription, but at the same time find my glasses
help when driving, particularly at night.

It is:

L: -0.25    Cyl -0.75 Axis 172
R: -0.25   Cyl -0.5  Axis 30

Is this too weak to be considered for contact lenses?
Also are toric lenses as effective on lower powered cylinders like this?
Or would I be better off with a higher power Sphere to compensate?

Again at these low powers is a CL prescription likely to be roughly the
same as glasses or in general does the power increase/decrease for
C/lenses compared to glasses?

Thanks for any advice

People with your prescription sometimes try contacts and decide it isn't
worthwhile. In a nutshell they say their vision "isn't bad enough".  Both your
myopia and your astigmatism are "borderline".

Ask your practitioner to train you with a pair of -050 sphere lenses, to see if
you tolerate contacts at all. Sphere contacts will be ~80% as good as glasses
during the day, and you could wear glasses for night driving, or get toric
lenses for the right eye.

Are there any CLs available for a Cyl. of -.25?  The lowest I found was -.50.
thanks

That's an interesting comment. What level in your experience do people feel
its worth the effort?
