Hallo, I'm student of medicine. I look for the news about retina
transplants. I want to help my nearly blind friend. Please write me
email if You have any information about this treatment.

Retinal tissue transplants are not possible.

Check MedLine for retina implants and macular translocation.

There are experimental studies of implanting light sensitive chips
into visual system.  This is only experimental and only serves as
treatments for certain kinds of blindness.

In some cases of macular disease, retinal translocation helps.

Your friend should ask his retinial specialist if his disease would
benefit from any of these treatments and for referral to a specialty
surgical centre.

I'm sure retinal transplants will soon become available, since we are
living in such exponential times. However I feel they are
unnecessary.

Read Bates.

You really are mentally retarded, aren't you?  Absolutely, freakin'
retarded.

No, I'm saying that we are living in an exponential world. Technology
is progressing so fast that by the time a med student enters Uni, the
information he has already learnt is already outdated by the time he's
finished the course in about three years! According to one video the
rate of technology progression doubles every year. And that rate is
increasing all the time. Which means that in a few years time we will
reach a point where technology is progressing many more times quicker.
Check out this video, 'shift happens'. Some pretty amazing statistics
there. A lot of them just left me with my jaw open -

In light of all this, I came to the conclusion that retinal
transplants, though impossible with today's technology, may not be so
far away in near future.

I also added my opinion that such treatments are not necessary when
one is able to cure himself using the methods instructed by Dr. Bates.

Now what's mentally retarded about me saying that?
