Hi folks,
It has been brought to my attention that the tyrannical advocator of
the prevention of myopia with the plus lens, not to mention 'checking
the snellen'(?), named Otis (although often referred to as Cletis, or
Scrotis, by his more aggresive enemies) may not be the man we all
thought he was. He may in fact not be a man at all. Over the last few
weeks I have closely observed "his" behaviour and it seems evident now
that he is actually a bot!
As you know, many of Otis Brown's messages are often very similar to
others, which was the first indication and hint into revealing his
true form. For example, almost all of the messages contain the key
words or phrases 'snellen', 'PREVENTION', 'measurement', '1913 study',
'enjoy, Otis' , 'second-opinion', 'YOUR majority opinion' and such
like.
From this we may gather that there is some kind of a predetermined
group of words which are scipted to appear at certain points within
each message. However, this is no ordinary bot. It does seem that the
programme is able to respond to the environment, in very complicated
ways. I can only imagine the number of 'If' statements held inside
this enourmous script; I say this because, for example, if Dr Leukoma
is the author of a reply, it seems our robotic friend here is
automated to begin with 'Yes, "L"', and likewise with the other common
participants.
In addition, it seems that Otis Brown is even able to detect a rude or
hostile tone in the other participants. A simple example of this might
be seen when, for example, the word 'idiot' or 'pathological liar' is
used. This is then scanned into his database of 'rudeness
classification' and he is then scripted to react accordingly.
However, it seems reasonable to assume that this bot is indeed based
on a real life 67 year old counterpart, named Otis Brown, with a
nephew named Keith who did indeed use the plus lens for several years.
I come to this hyopthesis as a result of closely studying his message
form - it seems at times there is some real life response unique to
the usual monotonous response of the robot. For example, when asked to
explain the method by which a more complicated process can be
accomplished, the real life Otis comes out
So he is not all 'fake', so to speak. If you watch Dragon Ball Z, and
you've watched the Dr Gaaro/android saga, you'll probably know what I
mean.

Why are you laughing?
This is a SERIOUS MATTER OF PREVENTION.

You missed one thing. He invariably posts his rebuttals late in the
evening before or shortly after his warm glass of milk. I figure that
this is to assure that he gets in the last word for the enjoyment of
the "chinamyopes" who await the latest words of wisdom from their
leader.

Dear "L",
Our friend Zits is the reason why I think you have an
impossible job -- for the public walking in off the street.
You indeed have an impossible job -- with my respect for
you IN THAT CONTEXT.
But that is not science.
Enjoy,

Neither is anything else you put forward.

On the contrary, I have a great job. I love my job. People like you
and Zetsu never walk through my doors.
