Just received some trial contacts - Focus Dailies. I'm not thrilled with
the clarity compared with some older bi-weekly Toric lenses. I'm going in
for follow up with Dr. in a few days, but would appreciate any comments or
suggestions to think about or ask him about at my follow up appointment.
Contacts have never corrected my vision real good, so I just wear them when
glasses are inconvenient such as at beach, intense exercising, other
activities when glasses tend to get sweaty or foggy. Because my use is just
occasional rather than daily the idea of daily disposables sounded good,
especially since sometimes it will be weeks between uses.
The prescriptions seem pretty different, and came from different doctors -
the bi-weeklies are a very old prescription. Because of this I'm wondering
if the lesser results with the dailies are likely due to the difference in
prescription or if the dailies are inherently not as good as the bi-weekly
lenses. I'll discuss all of this with the Optometrist next week, but would
appreciate any comments or thoughts to help along my thinking , or raise
questions I should discuss at the appointment.
Also are the any forums, other than the newsgroups, that have good
discussions on such topics?

There are a very limited number of prescriptions that are available in
Focus Daily Toric lenses. Other 2 week brands are available in a huge
number of different parameters (degree of astigmatism, orientation of
the astigmatic axis, lens base curve, etc). It would be likely that
the Focus Daily Torics you have are not precisely correcting your
refractive-error leaving you with some slight blur and distortion.
Ask your doctor to be sure.
