minor color shift

Hi,

I recently noticed that there is a permanent slight color shift
between my two eyes.  I know from when I was younger if I would put
pressure on one eye than that eye would have a slight redish tint, but
now it happens all the time.  It is such a slight variation that it
does not have any affect on my life, but I am curious if this is
normal.  When I look at the road while driving, my left eye looks a
little "blue" compared to my right, and my right has a little
"magenta" compared to my left.

I had lasik 2 weeks ago if this has anything to do with it.

Thanks!

It's not "normal" but it isn't that unusual. It's common in early cataract,
when one lens changes color more than the other.

In younger people, it might be a consequence of minor optic nerve disease,
or you might never know the reason.

It's hard to see how LASIK could cause it.

If it changes or gets any worse, you should have it checked out.

Be aware that covering one eye for any substantial time (dark adaptation)
will create dramatic differences of this sort.

I know about dark adaption.  I remember in high school I'd put a
little pressure on one eye, then observe the color change between
eyes.

I'll have to observe my eyes more often...I notice it in the morning
when driving and looking at the sky and asphalt.  Right now I'm not
observing any color shift while looking at white paper.

Thanks again!

It's unlikely that color distortion would come and go if you had a genuine
organic problem.
