Changing contact lenses--knowing when it's time

I have disposable (soft) toric contact lenses that are supposed to be
worn for 14 days and then replaced. The lenses are for distance
vision, and because I work out of my home at a computer, I don't put
them in when I'm here. I generally only wear them when I go out for,
say, anything over an hour, and then I take them out when I get back.

Because I only wear them "part time," I didn't replace them at the 14
day mark. Actually, I think it's been something like 5 weeks that I've
been wearing the same pair, and they still feel fine.

How do I know when it's time to replace them with a new pair? I had
assumed that they'd eventually start to feel uncomfortable and I'd
know it was time to change them, but so far that hasn't happened.

Most wearers of this type of lens do the same thing.

You answered your own question here, it will be up to you to find the
level to where you have to toss them.

Why are you still wasting time with this crap lenses?
Can't you be quick and wake up to the truth of sight?
Why must you linger to stupid quack treatments, that is: glasses,
contacts, surgery, and so on. If I were next to you I would like to
give you a nice good slap on the cheeks, which would send your contact
lenses flying out and hopefully smashed to the ground. Wake up from
this deep slumber!

If there are normal skin bacteria culturing in your case, they can
overwhelm your disinfecting solution if you go more than a few days
without replacing it.  If you are replacing your solution regularly,
then 14 wears or so can take months if necessary.

True, some people don't do this and run into irritation and other
problems,

One of two ways:

1.  The same way you probably know when it's time to change the oil in
the car.  You wait until it starts making strange noises and parts
start falling out as you drive down the street.
2.  According to the schedule your doctor prescribed them.

I know the feeling.

I stopped taking my blood pressure medicine and am waiting until I
feel bad until I start taking it again.  And don't worry -- I'll start
in a day or two of me feeling bad lest I have a stroke.

Don't be stupid.
Oxygen and food and water are required from the body.
Didn't you learn: MRS GREN

These are the things that human needs.

Since when ? All I have to do is stare at the sun and all those
"needs" are fulfilled.

Do not be so foolish, dear chap.
To stare at the sun is to destroy your vision.

Wasn't it you who recommended staring at the sun?

Is MRS GREN something you learn in school?

I've partaken of the first 5

but have never of these last two,

yet I'm alive. Must be why my eyes are myopic.
I would say in general that many people, most who post on this NG in
fact, are have no "S"ensitivity though. It truly is a man's world.
