Are they available in the US now? I see them listed now on the Coopervision
US site, without much info about them.

Anyone here tried them yet, either on yourself or on patients? Comments?

Have they been approved for 30-day wear?

Are they aspheric?

I recall reading a post here that they would probably soon come out with a
multifocal version of Biofinity. Anyone have an idea when those might become
available?

good question.  i "hear" there are a dozen or so labs that have been
fitting them for a few months.  supposedly they will be released to
some private doctors first while stocks are built up, and then they
will go out to the larger optical outlets in late fall.  supposedly.

anyway, i think there is a good potential for the bioaffinity product
line.  SiHi lenses are definitely preferred, and there are pluses and
minuses to all the existing competitive products.  av advance-- dirty
too easily.  oasys-- much better but pricier than your average joe
wants he has problems that must be solved. 02 Optix-- good lenses but
i'm still smartin' after their supply screw up which pissed off alot
of my patients and made me look bad.  purevision-- hi modulus
(stiffness) makes many patients not like them and they are also kind
of pricey.  If Coopervision comes in with a good product at a price
equal or a buck or two less than advance or 02, they'll clean up
IMHO.  obviously we need torics and nobody does 'em better than
coopervision.  and obviously we need multifocals and nobody does 'em
better than coopervision.  the future looks bright for coopervision
unless they stumble.  CIBA screwed up so badly beginning 5 years ago
and continues to screw up allowing other companies to come in and grab
what could have been their's.  their CEO should be led out the back
door, blindfolded, and shot.

Are you saying that most docs don't have them yet?

According to the Coopervision web site, they have officially launched:

Anyone here tried them yet, as a patient or practitioner? Comments?

I am wearing a pair right now. Just got them today.  I'm not an expert
and have been wearing the same brand prior for a long time (B&L Optima
FW) but compared to what I was wearing these are very comfortable.
I've noticed that the whites of my eyes are much whiter.  I realized
after getting back from the optometrist with the sample pair that they
are not yet available on 1-800-contacts or any other online
retailers.  I'll have to go back to buy a couple of boxes.  1-800-
contacts said they weren't sure when they would begin selling them.

A couple of weeks ago I tried the Biofinity Contact Lenses. They
definitely hadn't been fully launched when I bought mine, as the test
lenses still came in boxes labeled SiH48 instead of the brand name.

In my opinion they are certainly more comfortable than B&L Purevision,
Cibavision Airoptix/O2Optix or Focus Night & Day. I think they have a
lower modulus and that's why. However they don't reach the level of
comfort I experience with the Acuvue Oasys lenses.
They are a little easier to insert than the Oasys ones, however they
lack both a visibility tint as well as an inversion indicator (features
that I've come to appreciate ;)). I also think that they don't have UV
protection.

In addition to this, the optical zone must be relatively small as it
gives me a lot more halos/starbursts than the Oasys lens. Probably this
won't be an issue for most people (Or most people are not aware of
optical zone problems? Two eyecare professionals I've been to actually
were not aware of this either).

As far as I know, the Biofinity lenses are currently only available with
a BC of 8.6.
