anybody with any up to date info on what sun tint is best for a modern
commercial pilot?

my pilot patient wants serengeti type tint and I wanted him to have
g-15, but my lab guy says regular grey 3 is best.

are there any special colors coming off modern cockpit displays that
might be problematic?

polarized are definitely out, as some displays and I guess windshields
become splotchy.

thanks

i'm not an expert on this at all, so my comments are pretty much seat-
of-the-pants.

I believe that there are many different-colored lights alongside the
runway that have significant meaning.  It just logically seems to
follow to me that you would want a tint in your sunglasses that are
color-neutral.  therefore I would prefer gray as your lab guy
recommends.

agreed, and the same thing on the instruments was my concern.  I'm going
with #2 grey and a single gradient mirror, plus AR backside in a Trivex
ECP (50 yo pilot).  That way they won't be too dark to see instruments
and even lighter at the bottom for reading plates, etc.  Thanks.

I have had no problems with trivex for tints and I done a lot of them.

Agreed, and I must wonder what disappointments he has had.  Trivex are
very easily tinted, although there may be a problem with "untinting"
them.  The built in anti uv and scratch are nice.
