Hi

I recently had an eye test done, and the optometrist had glasses made
for me. I'm myopic. The lens for the left eye improves my long-
distance vision a lot; however, there is little improvement for my
right eye which is the weaker one.

The optometrist said, "There will still be a difference between your
eyes... come back in a year and I'll make a better lens for your right
eye."

Is it justifiable to make glasses with one eye out of focus in order
to "balance" the eyes and "train the brain"? Or is he just creating
repeat business? Sorry if I sound cynical, but I've actually had 3 eye
tests done over the past couple of years, all with wildly different
results though my vision hasn't changed.

sometimes it is best to undercorrect the weaker eye (if for eg. your
right eye is highly myopic wrt your left eye) so the glasses are
comfortable to wear. especially true for a first pair of glasses.
